Description

My first attempt at woodcarving. I recently got the chance to take a short course in Maori Woodcarving as an elective in my studies, and it's great fun. 

Koruru are traditionally placed on the gable of the Wharenui (meeting house), and usually represent an ancestor.

Macrocarpa wood with Paua (NZ abalone) shell inlay.
